Unfortunately yesterday's announcement regarding the easing of COVID restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne from tomorrow does not extend to
Cricket HQ. Sadly, we are categorised like a gym (an indoor physical recreation and sport facility).
This means all programs, net bookings and coaching sessions currently booked from Friday 11th June through to Thursday 17th June will have
to be cancelled. This includes players registered in the Winter Programme and Victorian Junior Cricket Academy. These programmes will be
further reduced and the fees will be reduced on a pro-rata basis.
When we finally get some certainty around the start dates of these programs we will be issuing refunds to people who prepaid the registration fees. Alternatively, players can elect to carry forward the refund amount as a credit to purchase bats, gloves, pads, cricket shoes or extra coaching sessions. On that note, we have received our new stock of HQ batting gloves and junior bats. Senior bats will arrive in mid July.
Based on yesterday's easing of restrictions for regional Victoria, our best guess is we will hopefully be able to re-open on Friday 18th June. We eagerly await further announcements from the government and health authorities.
After closing for 7 months last year and losing our winter programme in 2020, this extended lockdown is incredibly frustrating. We really feel for the young boys and girls who love playing cricket and are impacted by our extended closure but public health and safety takes priority over cricket!
Rest assured, Cricket HQ will bounce back and we will do our best to satisfy the appetite of young cricketers the moment we are authorised to open!
